Overview

How spearfishing is treated at Montego Bay Point Special Fishery Conservation Area.

Fish sanctuary in St. James (Montego Bay Marine Park area); fishing prohibited except under licence (SFCA Reg. 4). Official boundary starts at Point A, the southern tip of Aquasol Theme Park (18 deg 28' 45.349" N, 77 deg 55' 48.692" W). Spearfishing is also prohibited within the Montego Bay Marine Park.

License requiredvia National Fisheries Authority (NFA), Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Mining

Apply and register online via the National Fisheries Authority IrieFINS online licensing and registration system, or contact the NFA directly. Under the Fisheries Act, 2018 (s.25) no person may engage in fishing without the appropriate licence, authorization or permit, and contravention is an offence.
