What this zone is
Overview
How spearfishing is treated at The Narrows (Marine Managed Area / fish nursery).
The Narrows is the strait separating St Kitts and Nevis, designated by the Department of Marine Resources as a Marine Managed Area within the Saint Kitts and Nevis Marine Management Area. It contains dense seagrass and coral and is a key fish nursery and breeding ground for commercial fish species, lobster and conch. The DMR zoning includes a conservation-priority zone here, so fishing (and spear/scuba-assisted fishing prohibited federation-wide) is restricted. At its narrowest the strait is ~3 km wide; widest ~3 km per Wikipedia.
