Overview
How spearfishing is treated at Marigot Bay Mangrove Marine Reserve (CAMMA).
No-take Marine Reserve (mangrove) within the Canaries/Anse la Raye Marine Management Area (CAMMA), first declared 1986 and re-declared 2000 under the Fisheries Act No. 10 of 1984. As a declared Marine Reserve all fishing is closed and the use of a spear gun for fishing is prohibited (Fisheries Regulations 1994, Reg. 44(5)); a Marine Reserve may not be used for recreational or other purposes without written permission of the Chief Fisheries Officer (Reg. 46).
