How spearfishing is treated at Mogador Archipelago / Îles Purpuraires (Essaouira nature reserve).
Island group off Essaouira on the Atlantic coast (Mogador Island and the Îles Purpuraires), a designated nature reserve and Ramsar site (2005) classified as a permanent biological reserve / SIBE. Access is forbidden without official authorization and fishing is strictly regulated around the islands; the area is part of Morocco's marine protected-area network ('Mogador' marine reserve). Spearfishing is incompatible with the protected zone.

Apply to the délégation des pêches maritimes of your region (issued by the chef de la direction de la marine marchande et des pêches maritimes or a delegated chef de quartier maritime). Requirements: be at least 18 (16+ with written parental consent), meet physical-aptitude conditions set by joint ministerial order (medical certificate), and hold third-party (liability) insurance.
