How spearfishing is treated at Rangali Kandu (Madivaru) MPA (South Ari Atoll).
Rangali Kandu (Madivaru), a manta and whale-shark channel off Rangali island in South Ari Atoll (Alif Dhaal), gazetted as a Marine Protected Area (MPA, 861 ha) by the EPA under EPPA 4/93, decree 10-C/99/38, declared 21 Oct 1999. Spearfishing is prohibited nationwide (Section 12(a), R-75/2020); fishing inside this Ministry-gazetted MPA is separately prohibited (Section 12(b)).
