What this zone is

Overview

How spearfishing is treated at Ailinginae Atoll Conservation Area.

Uninhabited northern Ralik-chain atoll designated a conservation area in 2002 under Rongelap Atoll Local Government ordinances and recorded in the WDPA (555583308) as an IUCN Ib 'No Take: All' marine reserve (~1,025 km2). Commercial fishing is banned, recreational take is limited and closed no-fishing zones apply, so spearfishing/harvest is prohibited or permit-only.
