What this zone is

Overview

How spearfishing is treated at Mavrovo Lake.

Artificial lake (reservoir) at ~1,200 m altitude in the northwest, part of Mavrovo National Park since 1952. Stocked with trout and used for recreational (rod-and-line) trout fishing by permit. Spearfishing (spears 'ости' / underwater guns 'подводни пушки') is prohibited nationwide under Article 93 of the Law on Fisheries and Aquaculture, so it is banned here as in all fishing waters.
