How spearfishing is treated at Second Tanintharyi Marine Protected Area (Kawthoung - Kau-ye Island coastal waters).
Marine protected area declared by Myanmar's Department of Fisheries in Tanintharyi Region covering coastal waters between Kawthoung township and Kau-ye Island (Kau-ye Kyun), to protect endangered fish species and marine habitats (mangroves, coral reefs, seagrass; home to dugong and whale sharks). Commercial/extractive fishing is prohibited within the MPA under the Marine Fisheries Law.
