Overview

How spearfishing is treated at Reserva Nacional Mar Tropical de Grau.

Marine national protected natural area (ANP) of about 115,675.89 ha (≈1,156.76 km²) off the Piura and Tumbes regions in northern Peru, established 26 April 2024 by Decreto Supremo N° 003-2024-MINAM. Protects a convergence of tropical and temperate marine ecosystems (humpback whales, manta rays, sharks, all sea turtle species). As a marine ANP, industrial/large-scale fishing is prohibited; only sustainable artisanal use respecting pre-existing rights is permitted under management plans (Ley N° 26834).
