Overview

How spearfishing is treated at Reserva Nacional San Fernando.

Marine-coastal national protected natural area (ANP) of about 154,716 ha in the Ica/Nazca region, established 9 July 2011 by Decreto Supremo N° 017-2011-MINAM. It is the only Peruvian protected area linking an Andean-coastal biological corridor to the marine environment (penguins, sea turtles, whales, sea lions). As a marine ANP, industrial/large-scale fishing is prohibited and non-commercial extraction is permitted only under approved management plans (Ley N° 26834). IUCN category VI.
