What this zone is
Overview
How spearfishing is treated at Danjugan Island Marine Reserve and Sanctuaries.
Limestone island ~3 km off Bulata, Cauayan, Negros Occidental, managed by the Philippine Reef and Rainforest Conservation Foundation, Inc. (PRRCFI) as a wildlife and marine reserve with three no-take fish sanctuaries around its reef, established in 2000 by Cauayan Municipal Ordinance 99-52. Once a heavily over-fished area, protected since the 1990s; fishing is prohibited in the reserve's no-take zones, so spearfishing is not allowed (Sec. 101 of the Fisheries Code).
