How spearfishing is treated at Isla de Desecheo Marine Reserve.

Fishing (including spearfishing) prohibited within a half-mile perimeter around Isla de Desecheo, designated a Marine Reserve by Ley Num. 57 of 10 March 2000. The island itself is also a National Wildlife Refuge.

License requiredvia Departamento de Recursos Naturales y Ambientales (DRNA)

Apply to DRNA (Departamento de Recursos Naturales y Ambientales) using the official form; must be 13 or older and carry the license while fishing. Children under 13 are exempt but must be accompanied by a licensed adult (except shore fishing). Clients fishing with a licensed charter/headboat owner are exempt.
