How spearfishing is treated at Caneiro dos Meros — Reserva Voluntária (Corvo, Azores).
The only voluntary marine reserve in the Azores, located approximately 150 m off the coast of Corvo island in front of the port of Vila do Corvo. Established through an agreement between local fishermen, divers, and the University of the Azores to protect the exceptional dusky grouper population; all fishing is forbidden. Subsequently incorporated into the Corvo Nature Park and recognised under the National Maritime Spatial Planning Plan (PSOEM-Açores, Resolução 136/2024).
