Declared by Decreto Nº 13.782/1992 as a protected fish-reserve zone around the Principal and Aña Cuá spillways of the Yacyretá hydroelectric dam, where migrating fish accumulate; MADES states its objective is to 'proteger y conservar la fauna íctica, solo permitiéndose la pesca de investigación' (only research fishing is allowed — all sport/commercial fishing, including spearfishing, is banned).
