How spearfishing is treated at Al Aaliya Island Nature Reserve.
Nature reserve island off the coast of Al Daayen municipality, north of The Pearl, listed by the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change as one of Qatar's biodiversity-rich reserves. Hosts endangered hawksbill turtles, osprey/gull/flamingo nests, mangroves and surrounding coral reefs; spearfishing/extraction restricted as a protected reserve.

Apply to the Fisheries Department (Ministry of Municipality; historically Ministry of Industry and Agriculture). Licensee must be of good conduct and a competent swimmer. Use of harpoon-guns requires separate Fisheries Department permission.
