Overview
How spearfishing is treated at Parc National des Îles de la Madeleine.
Marine national park comprising three volcanic islands and the surrounding sea ~4 km offshore from the Cap-Vert peninsula (Dakar), created 16 January 1976 by decree n°76-0033 (~45 ha). A strictly protected, no-take area: access is only by guides approved by the National Parks Administration; extractive activities including fishing/spearfishing are prohibited and uncontrolled sport-fishing is flagged as a threat to park integrity.

Apply to the competent services of the Ministry in charge of maritime fishing (Direction des Pêches maritimes). For sport fishing a vessel-based permit requires affiliation to a club/centre affiliated to the national sport-fishing association; the precise procedure and any shore-based recreational diving permit modalities are fixed by ministerial arrêté.
