Overview

How spearfishing is treated at Parc National du Delta du Saloum.

National park (created 1976, ~76,000 ha), core of the Sine-Saloum Delta UNESCO World Heritage Site and Biosphere Reserve, with mangrove creeks, sandy islands and large sea areas. As a national park, extractive fishing including spearfishing is prohibited within park limits.

License requiredvia Direction des Pêches maritimes, Ministère des Pêches, des Infrastructures maritimes et portuaires

Apply to the competent services of the Ministry in charge of maritime fishing (Direction des Pêches maritimes). For sport fishing a vessel-based permit requires affiliation to a club/centre affiliated to the national sport-fishing association; the precise procedure and any shore-based recreational diving permit modalities are fixed by ministerial arrêté.
