How spearfishing is treated at Hera Sentru Beraka tara bandu marine area.
The Tara Bandu-Sentru Beraka Locally Managed Marine Area, launched by the community of Hera (coastal town about 13 km east of Dili) on 16 December 2024 as one of four MPAs established in 2024 (Lian Lidu, Ilicnamo, Behedan, Hera) safeguarding a collective 18.9 km2 including seagrass meadows and mangroves. As a tara bandu LMMA, fishing (including spearfishing) is restricted/prohibited within the no-take closure under tara bandu rules.
