Zanzibar's first marine conservation area (established as a sanctuary in 1994), a fully protected no-take coral reef sanctuary on the western side of Chumbe Island southwest of Stone Town. Off-limits to spearfishing.

In Zanzibar, obtain a specific sport spearfishing licence from the Department of Fisheries Development (Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, Zanzibar); foreigners must operate through a registered, government-authorised service provider.
