How spearfishing is treated at City of Des Moines Park Conservation Area (Puget Sound, Washington).
The tidelands owned by the City of Des Moines at City of Des Moines Park and the water column above them, a statutory Conservation Area defined by WAC 220-303-020. WAC 220-305-080(1) makes it unlawful to fish for or possess fish, shellfish or wildlife taken from any conservation area, so all finfish are closed and spearfishing is prohibited. The footprint is tidelands only — there is no subtidal component — so in practice this affects shore and shallow-water activity.
