Overview

How spearfishing is treated at False Bay unit, San Juan Islands Marine Preserve (San Juan Island, Washington).

The tidelands and bedlands of False Bay on the south-west side of San Juan Island, a University of Washington research area and one of the five units listed in WAC 220-302-100. WAC 220-305-080(2)(c) closes the San Juan Islands Marine Preserve to the taking of food fish other than salmon (herring excepted), and WAC 220-310-130 makes it unlawful to take salmon with underwater spearfishing gear anywhere in Washington, so nothing a spearfisher targets may lawfully be speared here.
