Overview
How spearfishing is treated at Redfish Rocks Marine Protected Area (Oregon).
The offshore marine protected area adjoining the Redfish Rocks Marine Reserve off Port Orford, Curry County. OAR 635-012-0060(1) prohibits the "Take of any fish species" inside it, and the only allowances in section (2) are commercial or recreational salmon trolling and crabbing. Spearfishing is not among them, so a speargun may not lawfully be used here; OAR 635-012-0070(1)(b) separately forbids deploying any fishing gear in the water inside a marine protected area except as those allowances permit.
