Overview

How spearfishing is treated at Samoa State Marine Conservation Area (California).

SMCA off the Samoa Peninsula and the Humboldt Bay entrance, Humboldt County (13.06 sq mi). Take is limited to salmon by trolling, true smelt by dip net or Hawaiian type throw net, and Dungeness crab by trap, hoop net or hand. None of these methods is spearfishing, so taking fish by spear inside the SMCA is unlawful.
