How spearfishing is treated at South La Jolla State Marine Conservation Area (California).

SMCA seaward of the South La Jolla State Marine Reserve, San Diego County (2.46 sq mi). 14 CCR §632(b)(144)(B) permits only the recreational take of pelagic finfish by hook and line. Because the carve-out is gear-limited, spearfishing is prohibited here even for the pelagic species that may be speared in neighbouring SMCAs.
