Overview
How spearfishing is treated at Ae'a Savai'i Marine Protected Area (MSP MPA 7).
One of the nine new fully-protected (no-take) MPAs designated under Samoa's Marine Spatial Plan 2024-2034. Runs along the west/northwest coast of Savai'i from Asau to Samata villages, ~0.93 km from shore (162 km2). All commercial and recreational fishing - including charter/spear-diving tours - is prohibited under the MSP activity matrix.
