Overview
How spearfishing is treated at Lake Chivero Recreational Park.
Reservoir on the Manyame River ~34 km southwest of Harare, managed by ZimParks as a recreational park (~6,100 ha). Angling/fishing (tigerfish, bream/tilapia, catfish, carp) is a permitted activity and fishing permits are required. Spear and spear gun are gear types authorized nationally under s.93 of the Parks and Wild Life Act, subject to per-permit gear restrictions imposed by the appropriate authority (ZimParks).

Apply to the appropriate authority for the waters – the Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management Authority (ZimParks) for State waters and the Parks and Wild Life Estate, or the relevant local/appropriate authority; for Lake Kariba via ZimParks / Lake Kariba Fisheries Research Institute (LKFRI). Permits may also be obtained at national park offices and designated fishing hubs.
