Koufonisi (Lefki) island and Strongyli, Makrouli, Trachylos islets (Lasithi, Crete)

The sea around the island of Lefki (Koufonisi) and the islets Strongyli, Makrouli and Trachylos, south-east of Crete, was declared an archaeological site by ministerial decision ΥΠΠΟ/ΓΔΑΠΚ/ΑΡΧ/Α1/Φ41/59500/3975 (ΦΕΚ 1689 Β΄/18-12-2003) to protect the submerged part of the ancient city of Leuke. Spearfishing, towed-gear fishing, mechanical shellfish harvesting, sponge fishing and aquaculture are prohibited all around them.
