Valtaki–Trinasos coastal archaeological area (Laconia)

Spearfishing is prohibited in the coastal area of Valtaki–Trinasos in Laconia, a declared archaeological area. Basis: ΥΑ (ministerial decision, signed by the Minister of Culture alone) ΥΠΠΟ/ΑΡΧ/Α1/Φ43/36388/2322 of 30 July 1999 (ΦΕΚ 1607 Β΄/1999; the Coast Guard register misprints that date as 30-07-2009), listed on the Gytheio Port Authority's current prohibition register. The declaration names the places it covers — Agios Konstantinos, Selinitsa, Valtaki, Glossa Valtakiou and Mavromantilou, all in the prefecture of Laconia — and separately declares the three islets (Trinisa) opposite Mavromantilou bay; the protected features include a late-Roman tomb at Agios Konstantinos Selinitsas, Middle Palaeolithic karst deposits at Selinitsa, and extensive late-Roman and early-Christian building remains along the whole shore. NO MAP PIN: the area is delimited only on an attached 1:5,000 ΓΥΣ map sheet; the gazette publishes no latitude/longitude, and there is more than one «Βαλτάκι» in Greece, so a gazetteer pin would risk being flatly wrong.
