Boullanger Island Special Purpose Shore Based Activities Area, Jurien Bay Marine Park (Western Australia)

A special-purpose management area of Jurien Bay Marine Park covering the mainland shore opposite Boullanger Island, between 30°18.658’S and 30°20.413’S. Clause 4(1) of the Prohibition on Recreational Fishing (Jurien Bay Marine Park) Order 2005 (Order No. 18 of 2005, made under s.43 of the Fish Resources Management Act 1994) prohibits all recreational fishing here. Clauses 4(2) and 4(3) restore only shore-based, boat-free fishing: abalone or rock lobster taken without diving, a fishing line, or a fishing net. Spearfishing is in none of those categories, so no speargun, harpoon, gidgie or Hawaiian sling may be used in this area. Enforcement is by DPIRD fisheries officers; the mainland-side strip facing Boullanger Island, adjoining but separate from the Boullanger Island Sanctuary Area.
