Conservation Area at Il-Ponta ta' San Ġiljan (St Julian's)

Conservation Area off Il-Ponta ta' San Ġiljan (St Julian's Point) on Malta's east coast. Spear fishing is prohibited, together with set bottom lines, trammel nets, gill nets and entangling nets, encircling nets, and demersal pots and traps. Off Il-Ponta ta' San Ġiljan is one of the five Conservation Areas that the trolling-line (rixa) concession expressly excepts, so trolling lines are banned here as well - there is no Alpha-flag exception at this site. Entry and mooring are limited to vessels engaged in recreational or technical diving operations, after pre-notification to Valletta VTS on VHF channel 12.
