Amorgos FRA – Gramvousa Islet Fisheries Restricted Area

The waters around the small uninhabited islet of Gramvousa (Gramvoussa) off the south-west tip of Amorgos, near Kalotaritissa bay, are closed to ALL fishing — professional and recreational, «με οποιοδήποτε μέσο και εργαλείο» (by any means or gear), so spearfishing included — all year round under art. 2(β) of Presidential Decree 73/2025 (ΦΕΚ 148 Α΄, 18 August 2025). The decree’s Annex closes the sea enclosed between the coasts of Amorgos and the islet of Gramvousa, delimited by the six points Α 36°47′48.8076″N 25°44′33.6222″E, Β 36°48′6.3648″N 25°44′41.4168″E, Γ 36°49′3.7734″N 25°44′41.1066″E, Δ 36°49′9.9300″N 25°44′42.5616″E, Ε 36°49′11.4270″N 25°45′5.3172″E and ΣΤ 36°48′30.3294″N 25°46′21.0756″E; the map pin is the area centroid of those statutory vertices, in water inside the closure. The decree entered into force on 18 November 2025, three months after publication (art. 6), and its measures are temporary, running for five years, i.e. to 18 November 2030 (art. 2) — they are not permanent. A separate seasonal closure under art. 2(α) shuts all professional and recreational fishing by any means or gear within 1.5 nautical miles of the whole island from 1 April to 31 May every year.
