Salamis Straits underwater archaeological site (Ampelakia & Selinia bays, Kynosoura, Psyttaleia)

The waters of the Battle of Salamis are a declared underwater archaeological site: Ampelakia bay, Selinia bay, the full length of the coasts of the Kynosoura and Ampelakia peninsulas, and the islets of Agios Georgios and Psyttaleia (ΥΑ Α1/Φ02/16973/665, ΦΕΚ 305 Β΄/1982). Spearfishing, towed-gear fishing, mechanical shellfish harvesting and sponge fishing are prohibited across that whole complex under KYA ΦΕΚ 336 Β΄/2004 art. Α§2(δ). The pin marks the Ampelakia-bay side of the Kynosoura peninsula; the closure covers several kilometres of coast on both sides of the strait.
