Akbük Harbour is one of six no-take marine zones inside the Gökova (Gökova Körfezi) Special Environmental Protection Area, declared closed to all fishing under Fisheries Circular Tebliğ No: 2012/66. Total of the six Gökova no-fishing zones is ~23 km2 (~7.5% of the SEPA marine area).
