Bathurst Island Reef Fish Protection Area, Northern Territory

Reef fish protection area under reg 10A of the Fisheries Regulations 1992 (NT). Amateur fishing from an unregistered (i.e. recreational) vessel is an offence here, and it is a separate offence to have fish or amateur fishing gear on board such a vessel inside the area unless the vessel is under way — so a recreational spearfishing trip cannot lawfully be made here, and you may not even carry a speargun at anchor. Licensed commercial vessels are likewise excluded (with a narrow Off-shore Net and Line approval). The area runs down the west coast of Bathurst Island between Deception Point and Rocky Point.
