Taroona Waters (Crayfish Point) Research Area, Hobart, Tasmania

A long-standing research reserve on Hobart's western shore, running as a south-easterly arc 800 m offshore from the end of Nubeena Crescent to the Taroona Beach boat ramp. Rod-and-line fishing is allowed, but taking fish with a spear is not: the Tasmanian Government's own fisheries GIS flags the area "No Spears". A 200 m buffer zone with the same spear restriction surrounds the reserve.
