Methymna (Molyvos) underwater archaeological site (Lesvos)

The sea off Methymna/Molyvos on the north coast of Lesvos is a declared underwater archaeological site (site 1 on the Mytilene Port Authority's list). Spearfishing is prohibited there all year round, together with towed-gear fishing, mechanical shellfish harvesting and sponge fishing, under KYA ΦΕΚ 336 Β΄/2004 art. Α§2(δ) as enforced by the Central Port Authority of Mytilene.
