South-east Kythira coast & Dragonares islets underwater archaeological site

The sea covering the south-eastern coasts of Kythira, including the Dragonares rocky islets, is a declared underwater archaeological site (KYA ΥΠΠΟ/ΓΔΑΠΚ/ΑΡΧ/Α1/Φ43/63198/4349 of 12-11-2003, ΦΕΚ 1786 Β΄/2003), protecting ancient wrecks and anchorages. Spearfishing is expressly prohibited, along with towed gear, mechanical shellfish harvesting, sponge fishing, aquaculture and bait collection. The closure runs along the whole south-east coast, not just at the pin.
