Shell Beach Protected Area

National protected area declared under the Protected Areas Act 2011, in Region 1 (Barima-Waini), northwest Guyana, stretching over ~120 km of beach and mudflats and covering approximately 123,055 hectares. Major nesting site for four endangered sea turtle species (Leatherback, Green, Hawksbill, Olive Ridley), which are protected under the Fisheries Act 2002 and the Protected Areas Act 2011. Managed by the Protected Areas Commission; resource use (including fishing) is regulated and subject to permission. This is a nesting-beach and mudflat reserve, not a dive site. Coordinate caveat: the point is a hand-picked interior point of the area's WDPA boundary (755 m inside the edge) rather than a rounded placeholder, but it sits on the Guianas tidal flat — no point inside the boundary reads clearly below sea level (every in-boundary probe up to 9 km further seaward reads +1/+2 m), so no true water point exists inside the polygon and this is the best available pin.
