Sugarloaf Island Special Closure (California)

Year-round no-entry closure around Sugarloaf Island, the sea stack off Cape Mendocino on the Lost Coast (Humboldt County), immediately north of the Steamboat Rock closure and adjoining South Cape Mendocino SMR. 14 CCR 632(b)(10) closes the water from the mean high tide line to 300 feet seaward of mean lower low tide to vessels at any time, and subsection (C) bars any person from entering that band without department permission - which reaches a diver in the water, so spearfishing there is prohibited year-round.
