Upper Newport Bay State Marine Conservation Area (California)

Upper Newport Bay and its ecological reserve, Orange County (1.24 sq mi). The only take exception is finfish by hook and line from shore only; inside the reserve above the Shellmaker Island line, swimming is confined to the area between North Star Beach and mid-channel. A diver in the water has no permitted take, so spearfishing is prohibited.
